Biography:

  • Name: Josh (aka Joshua) Maurer - changed to Josh Lucas for career reasons
  • Born: June 20, 1971
  • Birthplace: Arkansas (moved around a lot - nomadic childhood)
  • Family: Father, doctor; Mother, nurse; (Political Activists) 3 younger siblings (1 brother & 2 sisters)
  • Physical Attributes: Blonde Hair, Crystal Blue Eyes, approximately 6.0 tall
  • Dating Status: Currently dating actress Salma Hayek

Josh Lucas (also noted as Joshua Lucas) was born in Arkansas with light blue eyes and blonde hair. His father is a doctor and his mother is a nurse. Both were political activists and they moved frequently. They moved approximately 30 times by the time he was in highschool. He grew up partly in the South Carolina and finally settled in the Tacoma (Gig Harbor), Washington area. He has been acting since he was a teenager and won dramatic literary and debate competitions during highschool which was very big at his school. Eventually, he chose not to attend college to pursue acting. He has stated he enjoys the instability that acting provides, as it is something he is comfortable with due to frequent moves during his nomadic childhood. He also enjoys the process of transformation. He has stated before in an interview that he likes to "play hard with the cast" while filming. He has done somewhat versatile parts, from sinister to romantic and comedic roles.

Josh related to his recent character, Jake Perry, in Sweet Home Alabama having had southern roots himself. He is not typically drawn to romantic comedies (so it is a good thing he did this one!), but typically likes doing roles that are unsimilar to his own personality. He has more dramatic instincts and experience and tends to enjoy and be more comfortable those roles. Script and Director is important to him when choosing his work. He had been acting for quite a number of years before gaining sudden media attention. His role in Sweet Home Alabama is viewed as his breakthough role. And as Glen Talbot in the Hulk, he will be well on his way! He considers himself a more private individual who is not necessarily interested in being famous, so his fresh Hollywood status is relatively new to him. Yet, he likes what he does and is glad he has been able to work his way up into the business. He currently resides in New York.

(this is my own summary based on all the sources in the links page.)
